Sundial Suites / PCB Guide / Destin Day Trip
Destin Day Trip Guide
About an hour west of Sundial, the harbor, the sandbar, the outlet mall, and everything in between.
Destin is about an hour west of Sundial, far enough to feel like a real day trip, close enough to make it easy. The harbor is the anchor; plan a few hours there and add on from the list below. All venues verified open June 2026.
HarborWalk Village & the harbor (~1 hr west)
HarborWalk Village
Destin’s waterfront entertainment complex, dozens of shops, restaurants, boat charter operators, and live music venues lined up along the harbor. The logical starting point for any Destin day trip. Free to stroll; dining and activity bookings vary.
Crab Island
A shallow sandbar in Destin Harbor that’s become one of the most iconic social spots on the Gulf Coast. Arrive by pontoon, paddleboard, or water taxi, you’ll find food vendors, inflatables, live music, and a floating party vibe on weekends. Pontoon rentals available from the harbor.
Buccaneer Pirate Cruise
A pirate-themed family cruise out of HarborWalk Village with water pistols, treasure hunts, and pirate face paint. The Destin equivalent of PCB’s Sea Dragon, book in advance, especially in summer.
Saltwater Pedal Pub
A pedal-powered party barge with a full bar that departs from HarborWalk, you pedal (or don’t) while the guide navigates the harbor. BYOB-friendly and a solid option for bachelorette parties or group outings.
Noah & Heather’s Magic Show
A family-friendly live magic and comedy show running at HarborWalk Village. One of the most consistently praised entertainment acts in the Destin area, book ahead, shows sell out.
Destin Farmers Markets
Destin runs two seasonal markets, one at HarborWalk Village and one in downtown Destin, typically on weekend mornings. Local produce, artisan food, and crafts. Check current schedules; operating days shift seasonally.
Destin History & Fishing Museum
A small but well-curated museum covering Destin’s identity as the “World’s Luckiest Fishing Village”, vintage gear, old photographs, charter boat history, and the story of the original fishing families who founded the town. Low-key, affordable, and genuinely interesting if you want context on the area.
Family fun along the strip (~1 hr west)
Fudpucker’s Beachside Bar & Grill + Gator Beach
A Destin institution since 1982, a massive beachside restaurant and bar with live entertainment, and attached to Gator Beach, where you can hold live alligators under staff supervision. The gator encounter alone makes it worth a stop for families with kids.
Big Kahuna’s Water & Adventure Park
One of the largest water parks in the Southeast, over 40 water rides and slides plus a dry-side adventure area with go-karts and mini golf. Open seasonally, typically April–Labor Day. A full-day destination.
Axes & Ice Cream
Axe throwing combined with an ice cream counter, an oddly effective combo. Walk-in lanes and hourly reservations available. Upbeat and casual; works well for groups who want something beyond mini golf or bowling.
Sandcastle Lessons
Professional sandcastle-building instruction on Destin’s white quartz beaches. Instructors bring all the tools; you build the castle. A surprisingly engaging activity for kids and adults alike, book through the beach activity kiosks.
Thrills Laser Tag & Arcade
Multi-level laser tag arena with a full arcade. One of Destin’s better rainy-day options for teens and younger kids. Open year-round.
Dune Buggy Rentals
Street-legal dune buggy and side-by-side UTV rentals for guided or self-guided exploration around the Destin area. Several operators run tours along the coastal roads and public beach access points.
Shopping (~40–45 min west)
Silver Sands Premium Outlets
One of Florida’s largest outlet centers, 100+ premium and designer brands on Hwy 98 in Miramar Beach. Open daily. Good first-stop if you’re heading to Destin and want to work in some shopping before hitting the harbor.
Grand Boulevard at Sandestin
An upscale open-air shopping and dining district in Miramar Beach with national retailers, local boutiques, and several well-rated restaurants. More curated than Silver Sands, a better choice if you’re looking for a sit-down lunch with shopping on either side.
Bass Pro Shops
The Destin Commons location of Bass Pro Shops is one of the larger ones in the Southeast, fishing gear, outdoor apparel, and a massive indoor walk-through aquarium. Worth a stop for fishing and outdoor enthusiasts.
Local flavor, bars & cigars (~1 hr west)
Destin Brewery
Destin’s hometown craft brewery with a full taproom, rotating seasonal beers, and a relaxed atmosphere. An easy addition to a harbor afternoon, grab a pint before or after dinner on HarborWalk.
Harbor Cigars
A premium cigar lounge near HarborWalk with a walk-in humidor, comfortable lounge seating, and a good selection of craft spirits. One of the better cigar lounges in the Panhandle.
Cigar Factory Social Club
Upscale cigar lounge and cocktail bar with a curated humidor and social club atmosphere. More of an evening venue, a solid last stop before heading back to PCB.
